One important thing for students and others who want to be employed and/or to manage people is to acquire interpersonal skills. Technical skills are never enough to make an employee/employer effective. One simply gets frustrated if you work with grumpy, snob or anti-social people.
I always advice my students before that they have to improve their social skills and to network with others, in and out of school. This way, it will improve their interpersonal skills and open opportunities for future employment.
Networking and social skills always pay in the future. These are quite true even in personal relationships.
