Teaching Values Too

In my more than 10 years of teaching, I was recently condemned by a student telling everyone that I collected her and nine others their tuition fees. This happened last July 2009 when one of the faculty referred the incident to me. I was only laughing since the teacher knew and the school itself that I resigned as early as June 15, 2009.

I however, felt bad that students would have to make such grave accusation to cover their misdoings. I was also worried because although some of the students and faculty personally knew me, others do not. Somehow, there may persons who would actually believe the accusation.

I then made my position letter to the Vice President of Academics that never did I joke nor imply about borrowing or asking even a single cent from my students as this is definitely unethical and unprofessional. Funny though that some students and teachers borrow from me instead of the other way around.

The student and her father were severely argued by my fellow teachers telling them that I resigned even before the incident happened and that it was way out of my character.

How I wish VALUES can be strongly taught among students that INTEGRITY matters more than any amount of money.
