Study and Work With Focus

Regardless of what we do, we are asked to work or do on something, may it be in school or somewhere else. Our very focus on these works determines the quality of our efforts. As a student before, we were trained not to do school works while watching televisions or playing games. Somehow, we had to do these dirty works inside our bedrooms without any gadget to distract us.

It indeed helped a lot as we excelled in school. Also, we were taught that we have to get things done way before the deadline so not to get cramped with deadlines and incomplete school requirements.

We hated our parents with all those military - like trainings but as the adage says, " Only parents know best." worked well on our value formation.

These very values are my anchors although, I violate them sometimes, to relax and to have fun. I guess the cue there is to be responsible with time and duties.

Fun Time with My Former Student

with Tammy and my former student, Alma

The very reason why I stayed longer in teaching was the time I share my learnings and my friendship with my students. Somehow, I treated them as younger siblings that need guidance, care and attention. I miss them a lot even if I only stopped being a teacher for 2 weeks since I assume to being an office employee.

I dug this picture of me, my sister and student. I can't help but be happy and sad at the same time.

Get Wet With Typhoons in Philippine School Year

As a country in the Pacific Ocean region, we suffer with tropical cyclones that run from May to November. Unfortunately, every school year in the Philippines starts in June. This is then frequently tainted and disgruntled by the number of typhoons we have to hurdle until December. Students and teachers must go to school in spite of the lambasted violence of these storms.

Just last year, about 22 tropical cyclones were predicted in the Philippines' area of responsibility. Storm Frank hit the country with devastating damages. The Philippines National Disaster Coordination Council (NDCC) reported on July 2 that the storm affected nearly 4.1 million people across 49 provinces. The typhoon killed 781 people and injured 792 others, while 673 people remain missing. In total, the typhoon damaged 254,744 houses and destroyed 84,706 houses.

This year, we are battling with Typhoon Feria, as 44,000+ persons were stranded as of June 25, 2009, reported by NDCC and the death toll climbs to 8.

We shall definitely struggle with these frequent storms in the coming months. Most Filipinos and Mesothelioma lawyers can simply complain of storms, poverty, health hazards, death, unemployment, injustice.

I only feel sorry of those who have to go to work or school with no slippers on their feet or umbrellas over their head and must work a long way to get to their destination. Life is indeed a hurdle.

Join School Events

I recently joined my former school's Acquaintance Party. I planned to just miss it since I was all drained from office work but I decided to attend for my boss-friend. I simply owed something to her.

I kinda missed my students, I was all touched when some of them came to me and said their hello's and got some photo shoots.

There were new faces, who I believed are freshmen and transferees. I shall miss school functions but I have to give this new job a try.

Social events in school or somewhere are always avenues for meeting old and new friends, learn new insights and sharpen one's personal relation skills.

I Am Off From School

For a decade I have been a college professor. I was used to the typical dirty works of teaching and school administration. But I was all burned out that I decided to look for a new job away from classrooms.

I am currently hired as a provincial Chamber of Commerce Project Officer, and it is totally administrative in nature. The job requires much innovation, control, wisdom and courage and personal relations. These may expect too highly from me but I wish to give it a try otherwise I shall remain frustrated and regretful for letting this opportunity go past my doorstep.

I indeed miss the school and the casual atmosphere of being with students and fellow teachers on the school's outdoor furniture. But, I won't have the situation changed too. So, perhaps, if I get used to the transition, I can do part time teaching or go full time teaching again.

My new job is definitely a test of my character and brain. Wish me good luck!

Philippine Schools Get Alerted for Swine Flu

Our school was supposed to start last June 8 but the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) ordered a memorandum to postpone the opening to June 15 or under the authority of the school administration due to Swine Flu alert.

As I type, there are about 50 cases of Swine Flu cases in the country. In the local city of General Santos, we have zero case however, we can only be vigilant of this disease.

The World Health Organization has more than 12,500 cases of AH1N1 in 43 countries since April with 91 mortality cases.

So, everyone is enjoined to be aware and alert especially in public areas like schools as swine flu is airborne - carried.

Brace Yourself with School Pressure

June is definitely the start of classes here in the Philippines. Of course, we have to hurdle through a number of typhoons and storms as we head to our schools. But, this is just one of the spices of being a student here.

Filipino students have to battle through traffic, tuition, peer - and - teacher pressure and school requirements.

I work in a school and I definitely enjoy having casual chats with my students. They typically complain of their strict teachers, flirt partners, ill friends, and unwanted weight. I can only laugh with them and give them light advices like study tips, programming habits and weight loss pills review.

But, students can have a fun stay in school if parents, teachers and friends only guide them. Although, this can be too dramatic among college students, however, my experience also tell me that the school level does not guarantee wisdom. Nowadays, motivation and guidance among students are required among all year levels if we don't want them to go astray.

Join School Orientation for Computer Degrees

School orientations are normally underrated by parents and students as irrelevant. But, orientation increases awareness and with that, students and parents are aware of their duties and responsibilities. They get to clarify issues that may later pose a problem.

School conflicts least likely to occur if everyone is informed. Being in an academic institution for over a decade makes me conscious of how dropped out and delinquent students come and go and how parents become disillusioned and pissed if they are unaware of their kids' performance.

Also, it has to be noted that computer programs or courses are definitely difficult to pursue. Students and parents oftentimes, take these courses as simple encoding or typing. Computer courses definitely require great deal of mental skill among other things.

So, if there are meetings or orientations, parents and/students are highly encouraged to participate.
