School Will Soon Start, Again!

It seems like the last week of October is devoted to semestrial breaks or mid-year break since November 1 and 2 are declared national holidays to give tribute to the dead.

But, come November 3, schools shall be rummaged again as students from all year levels resume except for those who are affected by the recently concluded typhoons where classrooms and garage floor were flooded.

Our school will start with its second semester on November 9. I still have to see my friend and former program director for loads she did promise me.

At least, the week's off is better than no rest at all for students and teaching personnel.

Filipino 3D Movie: Dayo

Filipino IT experts and animators are highly recognized worldwide however, only quite a few really succeed for a number of reasons. Somehow, we simply work for the big guys since we could not really finance the making and marketing.

But, I am quite proud to post that somehow, our very own artists have made their statement more pronounced through the production an release of the first all - animated movie made in the Philippines through Cintiq-powered animation studio and was shown last December 2008. It took them 2 years to produce with $1.3 million budget.

I must say this is only a start of the number of animated movies Filipinos shall be making.

Schools now do make use of halloween as part of their school program. My kid and nephew had their fun time with their spooky costumes and loot bags.

With school breaks and parties everywhere, this halloween shall be sure fun!

Filipino Grandma Techie on Commercial, Again!

Who says computer and internet technology is only for the young ones? This has compelled a number of oldies to make use of this technology for fun and all.

My personal favorite, Grandma Techie says it all. I love her first TV commercial on Facebook and Internet chat with her family and now, she is back, and into computer games and high-end computer spec. Cool!

Bad Students and Irresponsible Teachers

Schools do hold higher standards of morality and ethics most especially among sectarian schools. I remember that in my Catholic school, values are as important as academics. But, when students do something nasty and grave, it can only serve justice where it is due.

But, when teachers misbehave, the school is less considerate. I guess this is understandable since teachers are expected to hold high morality and wisdom than their students.

There were cases of teachers having sexual harassment or abuse or dishonesty committed against their students. And, I can't only feel disgrace for these teachers that I favor legal complaints against those who have overused their authority. There are indeed legal experts for these not only for those who have ill - used their profession that they need legal experts including Bronx medical malpractice lawyer.

I am no righteous but I only say that as mature individual, I hold greater responsibility for younger people. It is only a sad and frustrating idea that some don't share the same principle.

Being a Teacher, Parent, Friend and Mentor

Being a teacher is more than a job. I guess staying in the same old job for long can make the job part of your lifestyle. I am a teacher in and out of school. What I pretty like about teaching is that I am still called "Maam" even if my students had graduated or transferred or stopped already or even got married for years.

Whenever, there are delinquent students, I normally talked to them as a parent but if after listening and counseling wont help, I can only hope that they will have their thoughts straighten up.
Now, that I have seen my students who are doing well while others are losing their lives, I can only feel heartaches that I cant do much for them and that I am away from them. It seems like I have become their extended parent.

Sigh! this job is indeed underpaid but overworked and emotionally draining, but I wont have it otherwise.

School Vacation is Up!

Finally, the time that every student and teacher is waiting for has come, semestral break indeed! I came to my old home school for my orthodontics treatment and I sure have big expenses in spite of the dental discounts.

I however, missed some of my students since the visit was scheduled during their breaks. Although, my former subordinate was kind and generous enough to call our former students together for a beach outing. I can only be happier!

We can't just wait until I can be with them and have fun together. Some of my former students have babies already while others are employed and some were depressed. As a former teacher, I can only feel their pains and triumphs. Sigh!!!! If only I can erase their misdoings and misgivings and give them happiness instead. I guess, this is all part of living a life in responsibility and wisdom.

Reunion With Former Students

I am currently staying in my old home city, Zamboanga for 7 years and shall be back to Gensan on Monday. I could not go home without really seeing my old students. So, when my former subordinate, now the OIC asked our former students for an outing with me, a number responded.

They asked when I would come back but I can smile at them and said, I am still on indefinite leave since I am enjoying my stay in Gensan.

We did stay on a beach resort with meager meals but with bounty laughs. I quite missed them a lot that we did some catching ups with updates.

We bid goodbye late in the afternoon, but I can only feel sadness since I quite miss being a teacher and a parent to them. I guess, this is what money and other profession can have, a personal touch on the lives of your client.

I only wish that they would have better life in and out school. Well, we can only wait for the next time I can be with them again.

Vacation During School Break

My kid will soon have his vacation break however, I decided to just leave for Zamboanga City alone to save from travel costs.

I have to meet my orthodontics for some brace therapy. It is however, a relief that school is off and soon, students and teachers can only have a full rest and vacations elsewhere, here and abroad. I am quite sure that the well - off students can just hop country to country with their international travel insurance and privileges to boost.

I only wish that school vacation shall recharge every one, shall have fun and learn at the same time.

Buying a Notebook Cooler

Since I started blogging and teaching IT, I have been using my desktop computer and notebook for more than usual hours. Normally, I work on times when my kid would fall asleep and just place my notebook on my lap.

I don't feel comfortable at all with the extreme heat from the unit that I decided to buy a notebook cooler. It is quite portable since I can just bend the ends to fit into my notebook.

At least, I don't have to wait that long for my unit to cool off.

Mobile Teaching

I shall soon go back to teaching but this time, it will just be on part - time loading. However, I have to run to different venues to attend to business and school.

I have been driving my bike but I still have to have full guts to ride it as often as I should. I wish to drive our van too and beautify it with some truck accessories.

We will start again with another mall exhibit tomorrow but I have to attend to another affairs to start the food business soon.

The family is just too busy but helpful to keep things going. I just hope that I won't get sick with my frequent travel from and to teaching and entrepreneurship.

Robotics Software

We were able to watch SURROGATES led by Bruce Willis. It is a story about how USA is filled with surrogate robots who replaced the reality and identify of their owners. It is a science-fiction based movie although I must say this can't be any remote possibility for mankind as the brilliant accelerate the power of artificial intelligence and robotics. This idea may be futuristic but reality dictates that robotics and robots indeed have been with us and shall continue to advance. Japanese humanoid is quite an example.

Am I Really Destined to be a Teacher?

When I was younger, all I wanted to do was to become an engineer, then, when I came to know one English teacher in high school, I was all motivated to pursue teaching as my ultimate career.

However, my pop disagreed since not only teaching is tiresome but also underpaid. So, I decided to pursue the trend of computer profession. Although, I earned a living from my programming works, I somehow consumed my professional time teaching. Thus for 11 years, I am still a college teacher.

I wanted to make a change from my career path just like stainless steel tiles that require art and upgrades otherwise one can only get bored. I did shift to office works, but somehow, I missed my students and my classroom.

So, come second semester, I may be handling my business but I shall go back to teaching! Am I really destined to be a teacher? I pretty guess so.

School Shall End Soon!

What I always like about college teaching is that I get to get breaks in between, I don't have to enforce discipline inside the classroom unless it is really needed, and I get to have semestral breaks.

This week is devoted to final exams. So, come next monday, classes will be off from most of the local colleges and universities here.

Running After School Programming Deadlines

Now that it is October, students and teachers are quite busy with creating, submitting and checking of projects and papers.

I quite remember that when deadlines are due, we would sleep lesser and lesser just to accomplish what was asked from us. We normally stayed in our groupmate's house just to finish the works and continued at home and in between classes.

School projects are really draining, financially or otherwise. I just remember that during school days, budget was scarce that we could only afford cheap food, school necessities and other essentials. And, now that Chirstmas holidays are near, students can only afford what is within their allowances including dating and buying of accessories like artificial christmas tree.

But, in spite of the hard work of student life, there is always fun in school especially, you have good times with your buddies, partners or professors. I guess, it is always the memories that delight more.

Facial Recognition Software Aids FBI

I read this article from Yahoo about facial recognition software being used by FBI through North Carolina Project. For others who see this a threat, may find this software an intrusion to privacy. But for others who have done nothing wrong, should not be at all alarmed.

Criminals in different ways of apprehending them should be behind bars if proven guilty. One criminal was caught through the software in spite of the change in identity. I guess even if the software may bring dozens of people with similar resemblance, this can somehow aid the police department in filtering who should be sought.

I only wish this can be done elsewhere too. Perhaps, unsolved and unjustified crimes can be decreased.

School Leave for Flooded Areas

It has been two weeks since the country was afflicted by typhoon Ondoy My sister in Manila experience the turmoil of the heavy rain and deep flood.

However, the country and other OFW grieved more as properties and lives were lost because of this natural disaster.

Although, the storm is a natural phenomenon, I can only blame the people for what is causing the world wide natural calamities including earthquake, tsunamis particularly in India and elsewhere. The tremendous climate change and irresponsible environment use only adds up to the cause of the problem.

Now that victims reside in evacuation center including classroom or upland areas for the evacuees, classes were suspended. I wonder if this calamity happens to other countries where irresponsible nature management and panama city beach rentals proliferate.

Days after the heavy storm, individuals in afflicted areas are still flooded but they have to go to work or school to resume their usual life.

Meeting My Former Students

It has been days since I resigned from my office job and just concentrated on my business. I find it all exhausting but I get to focus on my new venture and my family.

We have been on mall exhibit too and it is quite draining. But, I get to meet my old high school and college friends and classmates and my former students.

Funny though that they can still remember me when I can hardly recall their names. hahhahaah!

Come November, I shall be back to my old classroom again. This time only for a part time teaching.

Excursion for Teachers and Students

As previously cited and posted in this blog, excursion or field trip is vital in every individual, may he be a professional or a student to go through an excursion or off-site exploration for further professional development.

There are indeed some things that a teacher or a book cannot teach that only experience can truly compensate.

We had tried local field trips first but with online discount promotions on air fare, travel abroad has become more inviting. That is why, it is nice to know that there is free reservation of hotels including barcelona hotels in Spain which is considered as one of the highly preferred tourist destinations because of the cultural heritage of the country and unique lifestyle and traditions of their people.

There are also rome apartments should you go on pilgrimage including Pilgrimage Rome for religious or spiritual encounter.

There are now a number of countries or states like Prague, London or New York which are considered best tourist destinations because of great services, fantastic travel package and great scenery. And, who would not forget Carribbean destinations?

I always believe that we can always mix business with fun. So, excursion can be for formal training or education but we can always have fun before and after this serious business and enjoy what the country may offer.

My students and fellow teachers could only wish that we will have our own chance of having an excursion abroad.

My Masteral Batchmates Are Graduating Soon

A year ago, I started my masteral program in Information Technology although I finished my degree on Masters in Public Administration already.

I have been a teacher in IT for 11 years and I know that the MIT is a basic qualification for college professors. Thus, I am pursuing it in spite of my age and resources.

However, since I took a new job and started the business, my time and resources were simply limited that I chose to stop from my masteral schooling. Now, after a year, my batchmates will soon have their comprehensive exam and have their graduation.

I only pray that by next summer, I can again continue with my program.
