Beware: Alarming Identity Theft

While it is fun that everything else is done and made online, this very technology is used by online thefts and hackers to trigger viral spams to personal and company mails and networks. While a typical spam mail can be harmless, there are evidences that these spam mails contain malicious links that may only expose your network or personal computer to hardware and software bugs like virus and / or malware.

But, what causes an equal alarming stir is the increasing number of identity thefts that normally occur in social networks like Facebook. Information about personal profile and families only expose these innocent individuals to fraudelent acts like scam trade and selling among others.

Identity theft is a serious criminal and civil crime that we can only be more vigilant. Thus, it is smarter to the know the possibilities of identity theft and acquire necessary   identity theft protection using an efficient and effective provider like IdentityHawk for 100% protection.

Being smart and proactive gives a viable protection from any malicious motive online or offline. So, now that we know, we are vulnerable, we can be more careful and responsible of what information we provide online.

College Joke: Easy College Admission

There was a student who was desirous of taking admission for a study course.

He was smart enough to get through the written test, a GD and was to appear for the personal interview. Later, as the interview progressed, the interviewer found this boy to be bright since he could answer all the questions correctly. The interviewer got impatient and decided to corner the boy.

"Tell me your choice;" said he to the boy, "What's your choice: I shall either ask you ten easy questions or ONE real difficult. Think well before you make up your mind."

The boy thought for a while and said, "My choice is ONE real difficult question."

"Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice!" said the man on the opposite side. Tell me: What comes first, Day or Night?"

The boy was jolted first but he waited for a while and said: "It's the DAY, sir."

"How???????" the interviewer was smiling ("At last, I got you!" he said to himself.)

"Sorry sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!"

Admission for the course was thus secured.

Have Effective Study Habits

Now that classes for new school year have started again, teachers and students can only be swarmed with papers to make and check and exams to study for.

This school year can be another year of toil for most students but those who have prior records of grade failures, they can only do better to keep their course otherwise they may be enduring longer years to complete their academic program.

But, they can have the following study habits to make their grades better:

  • get a course syllabus and course outline for personal readings;
  • attend classes regularly;
  • have recreational ways to de - stress like joining an afternoon Yoga, occasional drinking or smoking cigars   with friends;
  • have a strict schedule plans for exams and project deadlines;
  • study with friends who equally prioritize schooling;
  • attend to school - aid interventions like counseling if needed;
  • have a goal for grades;
  • take a healthy diet and sleeping schemes;

MAHIRAP LAHAT

Sa UP, mahirap ang Math.
Sa Ateneo, mahirap ang English.
Sa La Salle, mahirap ang parking.
Sa Assumption, mahirap ang walang pera.
Sa Holy Spirit, mahirap umuwi pag may rally.
Sa UST, mahirap umuwi kapag baha.
Sa St. Scho, mahirap sumakay sa LRT.
Sa San Beda, mahirap maging lalaki.

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

A few days before Christmas, the Monsignor thought it would be a good idea if he solicited the support of a number of schools to get together to create a Nativity Scene in time for the Christmas Mass. The day before Christmas, the Monsignor discovered that the Nativity Scene was still incomplete so he made a few inquiries on why this was so.

Ateneo reported it could come up with only two and not three wise men.

La Salle reported it could not come up with even a single wise man.

Maryknoll reported that it could not come up with even a single virgin.

San Beda reported that it could only come up with three wise gays.

UP reported that they killed the three wise men.

MAGIC MIRROR

There was a magic mirror. Anyone in front of it who says a lie immediately dies.

Three Students: an Atenean, a UPian, and a La Sallite went to see the magic mirror

First, the Atenean faces the mirror and says "I think I'm smart!" He immediately falls dead on the floor.

Next, the UPian braves the mirror and says " I think I'm rich!" He gets stoned to death by an angry mob.

Lastly, the La Sallite dares the mirror and says "I think... ..." But he gets struck by lightning upon saying "I think... ..."

A MURDER MYSTERY (To be solved solely on the basis of pure logic)

Who committed the murder?

Suspects:
The Humble Atenean, The Bright La Sallite, The Innocent Maryknoller, The Unaffected Assumptionista, The UP Graduate

Culprit:
The UP Graduate

Logic:
No such thing as a Humble Atenean or a Bright La Sallite or an Innocent Maryknoller or an Unaffected Assumptionista.

Teaching Work Load for Me

I have been on vacation for almost a month now and unfortunately have been absent from my teaching class for two (2) weeks. Good thing though that my school employer has been kind and understanding of my travels that they will give me time to cope with my absences.

So, through Facebook, my direct boss gave me my new work loads for this new school year and unfortunately, I have to hurdle two difficult subjects, OPERATION RESEARCH and THEORY OF AUTOMATA.

I am pretty sure that my students are only glad that their teacher is still away but I am quite sure they won't like the change in their schedules once we have our make up classes.

I only hope I can manage everything now that I resume with my masteral schooling too.

Is Online Education Effective

When geographical distance is a constraint, individuals from the the academe, business and government entities among others can only hurdle the limitation with much discomfort and costs.

This is quite true when business owners have to travel to attend to a remote business operation or when students have to travel towns or cities just to attend to classes. So, with all the distance, they can only submit to the monstrous costs and troublesome travel.

Good thing though  technology  like  MegaMeeting video conferencing software  can be used  for online education or business meetings without the restraint of physical attendance.

Thus, with the right technology, medium of communication, online transactions including learning can be as equally effective but less expensive.  Learning and communication nowadays is boundless, thanks to technology, we can be anywhere at anytime.

When Students Work

As a teacher, I witnessed various students and parents and have dealt with their backgrounds to name a few. But, my heart goes easy when I have students who have to work part time or full time just to make ends meet.

While it is fun earning for your personal allowance, it may take a toil to work at the same time study and complete school requirements.

Thus, when students have to work while attending school classes, it is crucial that students prioritize their time and put equal importance to both loads.

More importantly, having the right character towards the work and school loads can only make the endeavor light and less cumbersome.

Make Your Learning and Teaching Fun

I am way passed my 30's and still counting and have been teaching IT for over a decade while I am used to teaching loads, I still have my moments when I feel drained, stressed and sometimes pissed off from everything.

And, since I can't do anything else with the workloads, I can only find time to detoxify my stress and get energized again.

So, if you are feeling all so strained from work and / or family work loads, here are some ways to make your time fun but worthwhile:

  • studying for exams or checking school papers but listening from your music player like ipod touch 3rd gen   for some good songs;
  • muscle stretching while attending to office phone calls or heading to a meeting;
  • taking a breathing exercise while waiting for your boss or students to finish their classroom works;
  • enjoying the view while contemplating.
Irregardless of what we do, it is imperative that we make each time fun and stress - free, otherwise, each day shall be as equally depressing as the other day and you can only wish, you are out of work or gone to other planet for a whole break.

Fun Time Before School Time

with my friends and family and other school personnel on fun eco - trail to Merloquet Falls

Merloquet Falls, Zamboanga Sibugay
One day before classes start on most schools, my friends and family along with other trekkers from a local university had traveled for hours to witness the renowned Merloquet Falls. However, the trek was soaked in heavy rain and muddy trail that we only had to skip rappelling from the falls and just witnessed the cascading water landscape.

We had our fun pictorial and dripping lunch but the long drive and slippery trail made the experience worthwhile before we all embarked to school loads.

Back to Masteral Schooling

After a year of absence from my masteral schooling in IT, I decided to continue the program, so, I can all be be settled and done with it. But, with all my other works including business, blogs, school, I simply struggle.

Being out of town makes only the masteral homeworks more difficult since I have no way of verifying my project. So, I can only sympathize with my students as they hurdle projects and exams from all their subjects. I only pray I can have all the energy to complete everything otherwise all my time and resources shall be put to vain.

We shall be heading home soon and it will mean resumption of my teaching works and masteral schooling. I can only work harder and sleep late.

Eyeglasses among Students and Faculty

My eyes have been strained even since when I was still in college and my academic program of Computer Science only worsened my visual faculty that I was advised to wear eyeglasses.  However, restraint and discomfort simply made me forget my eye glasses until my vision gets worse because of my teaching and programming jobs.

Now, I have to wear corrective eyeglasses to stabilize my poor vision and sunglasses to protect me from UV rays among others.   I have  to, however, find  wider and bigger  cheap sunglasses    that are fashionable but are also vision friendly.   I heard sunglasses can be customized too for people who have impaired vision.

It is quite typical that restrained vision can be felt among school individuals but  with medical attention, poor vision can still be addressed.

Promote Healthy Habits in School

Now that schools are officially  open for the new school year and with the typhoon season set to happen regularly in the Philippines, it is to be expected that colds, flu, dengue can come abound students.

Thus, during class orientations, school personnel and faculty must strongly inform students of personal and public hygiene for everyone's safety.

But, this health orientation should be complemented with regular sanitation activities and follow - up from the school heads and cooperation of parents at home.  Most illnesses are preventable and when sick students are among the school crowd, it is not surprising when they contaminate others, thus, preventive and proactive measures can keep the students more protected from school - related illnesses.

How to Handle School Anxiety

Every graduation means a new beginning when students enter high school or college and it is quite normal when freshmen students experience mixed emotions of thrill, anxiety, eagerness to name a few.

It is quite important then that  students and school personnel handle students' perceptions and behavior, so, proper actions can be done. Issues like harsh behavior, social pressures or poor performance can be collectively  assessed by parents and school personnel requiring support systems like counselling.

It is then important that before students  choose a particular school or program, they should be properly informed and exposed to the environment through open house invitation and reviews. It can also help if freshmen are assisted by welcoming school peer facilitators or admission personnel, so, they are not lost with procedures  among others.   More importantly, freshmen have familiar buddies from old school, so, they can be more comfortable and trusting.

Schools Get Busier

The first week of school is about to be over and I am quite sure students and parents are now settled with the new school year although  other issues  like typhoon can be an issue.

Other schools including my school - employer, STI, however, shall start on June 13 and since I am still on vacation, I just have to start my classes late and make up for the missed attendances.

But, students, teachers, school personnel and even parents are now busier as they attend to  document scanning services   and paper works  to name  a few.

We can only hope that we all get settled and ready to have a productive school year otherwise this new school year shall simply pass without any sensible worth.

Classes Officially Start

Over millions of students swarmed schools from different levels last June 6 as the official start of classes for SY 2011 - 2012.

And, the entire nation of the Philippines can only listen to usual complaints of parent, teachers and schools whenever classes start. The following were common issues cited:

  1. lack of teachers
  2. lack of classrooms
  3. lack of textbooks
  4. classrooms affected with flood, typhoon (selected areas)
  5. fees collection
  6. anxiety of first - timer students
  7. school disorder
These problems have been experienced periodically but we seem to never learned. We can only hope that CHED and DEPED and the community can take collective actions to address the issues, so, next school year can be better.

And, since the
