First Quarter: Schools Suspended from Constant Rain in the Philippines

In the southern part of Mindanao, rains have been pouring since last week and the constant rain could only flood areas including schools that actually displaced with at least 14 reported deaths and while 13 are declared missing from the floods and land slides.

State weather bureau says that the low pressure area will still continue until Thursday and that would mean more rain and more areas shall be at high risk.

As read on http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2014/01/14/1278579/landslides-floods-kill-14-mindanao, the Department of Education has suspended schools in all levels affected by heavy downpour in areas of Compostela Valley, Bayabas, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.

Furthermore, schools from preschool to secondary  in Davel del Norte, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte were also suspended.

In General Santos City, some areas already flooded, however, schools continue as expected. We could only hope that the rain shall stop, so, normal days can be realized.

Be safe everyone!
